You must monitor the WhatsApp group on the day and evening before your flight to see if your session is going ahead with the weather that is forecast. Please arrive to the airfield or site in time for your training.
A strong pair of boots with ankle support is essential for training. Bring gloves, a jacket and clothes suitable for the season we don’t recommend shorts but a hat and sun cream is essential in summer. For paramotoring training no hooded jackets or coats.
Please bring food and water for your day. Due to the nature of the sport, you may not be in a location near shops or toilets.
On a typical training day we will meet on site at 9.45am. You will have a briefing prior to any training commencing and fill in any required paperwork.
Your training day will consist of practical and theory tuition. We will also run theory only days prior to written exams.
A days training does not comprise of a set number of hours, however we will always endeavour to maximise the day with the conditions we have on the day.
An average training day would run for 6 hours, this maybe longer during the summer months and shorter during winter due to day light hours and weather conditions.
Weather is a big factor in all our flying and training. The conditions under which we fly/train are closely monitored and if it rains or the wind is too strong or the ground conditions aren't suitable your training day or flight may be shortened or postponed. If this is the case we will re schedule for the next possible opportunity. During the winter months especially November to February, the school may close periodically due to unsuitable ground and weather conditions. Subsequently we sometimes run training courses abroad to fill in this time during bad weather periods and the school may be closed at short notice. You are welcome to join us on our abroad training at a heavily discounted price to finish the remainder of your training during this time.
A full refund will be given up to 14 days after payment of a fee or deposit. Refunds in this period will incur a £20.00 administration fee. Once the course/ training has commenced or after the 14 day period, we will be unable to give a refund.
You must give at least 24 hours notice if you want to postpone any training or experience flight that you have booked, failure to do so means you will either forfeit the booked training or be liable to pay a £35 cancellation fee.
Pre-Paid Taster day vouchers are valid for 9 months from the date of purchase.
Pre-Paid Tandem vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
Pre-Paid Courses entitles you to 12 consecutive months of training, irrespective of weather conditions or winter school closures.
Vouchers, courses/ training may not be passed to another suitable party.
Zero payment training bookings do not guarantee training or subsequent training.
Training with Evolution does not guarantee completion of a course or training.
For all our training courses you need to be a full member of the BHPA (British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association). You can sign up directly (you will need to show your BHPA membership) or you can do it through us on arrival on your first day. The BHPA includes 5 million pounds 3rd party insurance as a full member. There is NO personal accident cover included in any of our paramotoring or paragliding courses, any training, tandem flights or vouches. The minimum age to fly solo is fourteen for Paramotoring and Paragliding. For dual flights, if you are under eighteen years of age parental consent is required. There is no upper age limit although in the interest of your own safety you must give details of any medical conditions that may affect your ability in the air and during your ground based training. If in doubt, please contact your GP for advice. The weight limit for using school equipment on a paramotor course is 110kg. Over this you may need to purchase your own equipment.
You must be in relatively good fitness to be able to run with 30KG over a 30m distance. If fitness or health becomes an obvious safety concern or limiting factor, we have the right to terminate your training or flight at any point during your course and no refunds will be allocated.
Any damage caused to any of the school equipment is your responsibility. Our equipment is kept in top condition so damage must be replaced not repaired!
None of the information below removes the duty of care any student assumes in flying the wing of their choice. We will always try to teach you using the best current practice and offer you up to date advice. We generally teach students on school equipment until 1. They purchase their own or 2. The end of their early training, whichever comes first. It is common sense that students complete as much of their training as possible on their own equipment, so that when you leave the school you are familiar with flying your kit. The earlier a student becomes familiar with their own equipment the better. In line with current best practice we recommend that students only fly modern paramotor wings that have been designed for beginners, with a suitable paramotor until they have enough experience to move up to the next level. That is why our school has new and modern wings, and why every expert in the land says it’s better to fly a lower performing wing at 100% than a higher one at 95%. We also strongly recommend that students do not purchase any gear until they have spent some time at the school. This will ensure you get the right kit whether you get it from us or not. We always reserve the right not to teach a pilot if we assess their equipment and level of competency to be unsuitable or mis-matched.
Safety is our primary concern. We reserve the right to terminate individual flights and training courses at any time if, in the opinion of our instructing staff, safety is compromised. We adhere to and enforce the strictest of safety guidelines in respect of the type and level of glider students can fly, at any given stage of their training. The decision of the CFI will be final.
